Metcalfe Street Improvements

The Study

The Corporation of the City of North Bay has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study to evaluate the sanitary sewer, watermain and road extension. The project includes sanitary sewer pumping station removal, watermain looping and a two-way single lane road from the intersection of Hardy Street and Metcalfe Street to Worthington Street.

The Study Area is generally bound by McIntyre Street East, Laurier Avenue, Chippewa Creek South to the O.N.R. railway.

The Process

This Study is being executed in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule “B” projects as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (October 2000, as amended in 2007 & 2010).  Alternative solutions will be   established and assessments will be conducted to evaluate the alternative road design solutions based on their impact on the environment and the opportunities and constraints of the project.

A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be scheduled during the Study to provide an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to review the alternatives under  consideration, and to provide input and comments.

Additional notices indicating the date and location of the PIC will be published in future editions of this newspaper.  Upon completion of the Study, a Project File documenting the Preferred Solution will be prepared for public/agency review and comment.
