The Landfill is located 26kms from City Hall, off Hwy #11 North on Sand Dam Rd in Merrick Township.

Hours of Operation

  • Mon-Fri 7:30-5pm
  • Saturday 8-5pm
  • Sundays-Only-Summer months (Victoria Day to Thanksgiving) 12-4pm

Items NOT Accepted

  • Anything that is considered "Household Hazardous Waste"
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Tires (as regular garbage for land filling)
  • Liquid Waste
  • Pathological Waste
  • Electronics

Renewable Energy Approval

PROJECT UPDATE

North Bay Hydro Distribution Company has received approval for the renewable energy project briefly described below and described in detail through the attached links.  Approval for the renewable energy project is issued under Section 47.5 of the Environmental Protection Act subject to the conditions outlined in Renewable Energy Approval Number 2494-8F8H5N issued June 13, 2011.

The following link(s) contain North Bay Hydro's documentation in support of their Renewable Energy Approval (REA) application for the proposed Landfill Gas (LFG) Utilization Facility Project at the City of North Bay's Merrick Landfill Site.  The REA Application's supporting documentation has been prepared in accordance with Ontario Regulation (O.Reg.359/09).

The copy North Bay Hydro Distribution Company's Renewable Energy Approval Number 2494-8F8H5N can be accessed by the link below.   The approval allows North Bay Hydro to engage in a renewable energy project in respect of a biogas facility to be constructed at the City of North Bay's Landfill Site located on Sand Dam Road in the Merrick Unorganized Township, District of Nipissing.
