Notice of Application to Amend The City Of North Bay’s

Sign By-law 2006-143, as amended

The City of North Bay has received an application to vary Sign By-law 2006-143, for the purpose of erecting new signage at property located at 390 Lakeshore Drive, North Bay.

A Public Meeting Will Be Held Before The Property Standards Committee, As Per Below:

Proposal:

The applicant has requested variances to Sign By-law 2006-143 to permit new signage to be installed at the property located at 390 Lakeshore Drive. The requested variances to the Sign By-law include:

  • Section 8.4.2 (e) to permit a fascia sign to extend above the eaves of the building;
  • Section 8.4.8 to permit the replacement of the existing rooftop sign

Please call, mail, e-mail or fax your comments to Elizabeth Courville, Zoning Administrator before 4:30p.m., Thursday, April 7th, 2016. Comments received will be read into the record at the Public Meeting and will be summarized in a report that will be submitted to the Property Standards Committee for consideration. If you so choose, you may also provide comments in person at the Public Meeting.

About the Process:

The Property Standards Committee is comprised of members of the community appointed by Council on a volunteer basis.  The Property Standards Committee hears and decides appeals from Property Standards Orders issued by the City as well as hears and decides variances to the Sign By-law.  The applicant/agent must be present for the Hearing.

Any person who makes an oral or written submission to the Property Standards Committee may appeal the decision of the Property Standards Committee, through a letter to the Zoning Administrator.  The Zoning Administrator will forward the letter of appeal and any information considered by the Property Standards Committee to City Council for their consideration.

Council may uphold or vary the decision of the Property Standards Committee or do any act or make any decision that it might have done had it conducted the hearing itself and the application shall not be entitled to a further hearing on the matter before Council and the Decision of Council shall be final.
