Working within a unionized environment, the Fire Chief will be accountable for managing a full service fire department with a compliment of 88 full time employees. The Fire Chief will be responsible for operations, strategic planning, budgeting, community liaison activities and public education as well as acting as a consultant to Senior Management and City Council and representing the City on the Community Emergency Management Committee.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong managerial, financial and employee relations skills. They must be knowledgeable about relevant legislation and have considerable related experience. A post secondary education in Business or Public Administration and/or related fire service management along with practical experience in incident management is essential.
