Fire Halls
 Construction of Station 1 |
The North Bay Fire and Emergency Services has three main fire halls. Station 1 was constructed recently (in 2000) and is a "state-of-the-art" facility. It has many modern amenities yet maintains the tradition and heritage of the old Station 1. A time capsule is contained in the wall behind the original brass pole and will be opened on the 150th Anniversary of the Fire Department on March 24, 2043.
The three main fire halls are currently located at:
- Station 1 - 119 Princess Street West
- Station 2 - 900 McKeown Avenue
- Station 3 - 128 Marshall Avenue

Kid's Fire Safety House
The North Bay Fire and Emergency Services recently purchased a 'Fire Safety House.' This miniature house is actually a modified 3D trailer designed to simulate real fire-related dangers often found in a typical home. As children tour the home, they will be challenged to identify potential hazards and leave the trailer safely as it fills with a safe non-toxic smoke.
The Fire Safety House has many features which makes it an ideal 'hands-on' teaching tool:
- Heated doors
- Built in TV-VCR
- Functioning fireplace
- Fog fluid and case
- Wheelchair ramp
- Capacity for video taping tours
- Telephone jacks for 911 dispatch
- Honda generator
- Functioning stove, fridge, microwave
- Air conditioning and heating
- Educational materials and resources

The Fire Safety House will be touring all elementary schools on a yearly basis and is also available free of charge to any local group or organization. 'Houses' similar to ours have been credited with saving several lives across North America. |
