City honours former Councillor
NORTH BAY, ON – July 26, 2016 – The City of North Bay Council observed a moment of silence during Monday night’s Council meeting to honour Eva Wardlaw.
Wardlaw served as a Councillor for the City of North Bay from 1986 to 1994. She passed away Monday, July 25.
“The city lost a great friend,” said Mayor Al McDonald. “Eva served her community in so many ways including serving on Council. We will miss her smile, gentle nature and her positive can-do attitude. The world lost an incredibly kind person.”
During the meeting Councillor George Maroosis reflected back on Wardlaw, with whom he served on Council for a number of years.
“I had the opportunity to serve on Council with Eva for a few terms,” he recalled. “She was always positive. She hated negativity. She always believed in being positive and putting your best foot forward. She was professional and very persistent and she never took a back seat in any debate. Her greatest attribute was her fantastic people skills; she always had a big heart when it came to people. She made great contributions to this City and we will truly miss her.”
The flags outside City Hall will fly at half mast until after Wardlaw’s funeral on Thursday, July 28.
