City lifts open air fire ban
NORTH BAY, ON – August 15, 2016 – Thanks to some long-awaited rain, conditions have improved enough that the City of North Bay has lifted its Open Air Burning ban. That means that residents can now have camp fires and use backyard fire pits.
However, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services encourages residents to continue to use caution when burning.
“Even with the rain the City received over the weekend, it is still quite dry and residents are encouraged to exercise caution with any open flame,” said Greg Saunders, Interim Fire Chief. “We will continue to monitor the conditions, as the risk can increase again due to the pre-existing dry conditions that we have been experiencing all summer.”
Residents are reminded that a permit for all open burning is required.
