Residents encouraged to avoid personal firework displays, attend City celebration instead
NORTH BAY, ON – June 30, 2016 – With Canada Day fast approaching and a complete Open Air Burning Ban still in place for North Bay and surrounding townships, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services is reminding residents that personal firework displays are not permitted for Canada Day celebrations.
“We’ve been experiencing very warm and dry conditions recently, which increases the risk of fires caused by informal firework displays,” explained Chief Grant Love. “Residents are strongly encouraged to attend the City’s firework display on July 1 instead.”
The City of North Bay’s official Canada Day firework display will be going ahead at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 1, at the waterfront.
Due to the continuing dry conditions the Open Air Burning Ban will be in place for the foreseeable future.
