Garbage is collected once per week.

There is a maximum of 3 bags/containers per week. Maximum weight is 15 kg (35 lbs) each. Containers shall not be larger than 150 L (33 gal).

Business Sector

White Goods

Large appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, washers and dryers are items that cannot be placed at the curb due to their size and weight.

If the appliance is still in good working order, it can be sold or sent to a second hand store.  If the appliance is no longer working, there are numerous alternatives:

  • Merrick Landfill will accept appliances based on the tipping fee schedule.  
  • Local scrap dealers may accept white goods - please call them for details

Take a look at your Recycling and Garbage Calendar to see if your pick up days are affected by this year's statutory holidays.

Pick-up is delayed one day after statutory holidays except Boxing Day (see Collection Calendar below on how to obtain).

Recycling and Garbage Collection Calendar

North Bay's Recycling and Garbage Collection Calendar is a useful resource available to all city residents for free. Inside the calendar you will find a map that allows you to determine your recycling and garbage collection days. Not only does the calendar help you keep track of your collection days, but it also provides other helpful information. There is a Recycling Guide at the back of the calendar that shows which items can be recycled. You can also find information on the Household Hazardous Waste Depot, Electronic Drop-off, Organic Drop-off, Recycling Centre, and Merrick Landfill. Furthermore, there are valuable tips throughout the calendar to help you live a greener lifestyle.

Come to City Hall on the 6th Floor (Environmental Services Department) to pick up a FREE one! Residents wishing to view this info in a calendar format (similar to past years) can call the City (705-474-0400 ext.2333) for a hard copy or one can be sent by way of email.
