Summer in the Park is opening with a bang with Michelle Treacy on Friday Night at Summer in the Park.

Michelle (pronounced ‘mee-shell,' like The Beatles song), is driven by a determined need to create music that empowers everyone. Not afraid to explore darker emotions, her music is fearless and raw, with a tinge of sweetness.

The 20-year-old Ottawa-native has always been in love with music, looking up to some of the female greats like Alanis Morissette, Madonna, Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga. Always a big fan of Lady Gaga, in 2014 during Gaga's ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour in Montreal, Michelle was brought up on stage with the pop icon. Michelle, always intrepid and passionate, not only sang along with Gaga, but took the mic to sing her own song, impressing Gaga and the massive crowd. Not even a year later, Michelle was signed to Sony Music Entertainment Canada in winter of 2015.

Now, Michelle releases her debut single, "Armageddon," a powerful anthem about overcoming the end of a painful relationship, taking control and rising above the hurt. The song was produced by Todd Clark (Phillip Phillips/Banners) and Stephen Kozmeniuk (Kendrick Lamar/Nicki Minaj) and was serviced to Canadian radio on July 6th.

“We are very pleased to have an up and coming Canadian artist to open the festival on Firday night,” said Summer in the Park Committee Member, Derek Shogren.  “Her raw talent is sure to aw the crowd”.

Wrist bands are only $35 including HST until July 1st.  Your wristband covers the cost of the entire festival weekend. “You can get a value like this anywhere else!” said Shogren.
