City launches recycling and garbage collection app

North Bay, ON – February 7, 2017 – Residents who want easy, instant and mobile access to waste information can now download the City of North Bay’s free Recycle Coachapp that puts garbage, recycling, and other waste management services at your fingertips.

“This is a new way for us to connect with residents and provide information about our waste diversion programs in a more convenient and accessible way,” said Councillor Tanya Vrebosch, chair of the City’s Engineering and Works Committee.  “We’ll be able to update the information on the app as necessary so it will always be current.  With this app residents won’t forget their collection day.  We hope to make their lives a little bit easier.”

The app provides residents with instant access to waste collection schedules and services. Instead of hunting for their printed schedule, residents can now check details on collection dates; materials accepted for recycling or disposal; drop-off depots, hours and rates; and more – all on their mobile devices. The app also allows residents to set up personalized reminders for any of the collection programs.  For example, they can set a reminder for the day that recycling is collected, or set up an alert for upcoming Goods Exchange days.

Residents can download the free Recycle Coach app from the App Store or Google Play.

The City will continue to distribute printed materials and have information available on the website or residents can call the Waste Line at 705-474-0400 ext. 2333.
