Hank Gibson Provincial Qualifier Media Release Lake Nipissing August 24-26, 2018

The North Bay Bassmasters is proud to announce the 2018 Ontario Bass Nation Provincial Qualifier will be held on the beautiful shores of Lake Nipissing in association with the City of North Bay, Sport Tourism, North Bay Chamber of Commerce and Tourism North Bay.

The event will take place out of the North Bay Municipal Marina August 24-26, 2018 and will host up to 200 competitors taking part in the two day bass fishing event.

The Organization and Clubs involved include the North Bay Bassmasters (http://www.northbaybassmasters.com/) who are a non-profit fishing club in North Bay with 16-20 members that host 6-8 club events per year along with local conservation efforts. The North Bay Bassmasters will be supported by the Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation (http://www.ontariobass.com/who-we-are.html) who is the parent organization to 24 local bass clubs across the province of Ontario and was founded in 1995. The Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation is a grass-roots organization designed for everyone from beginners to seasoned tournament anglers.

Each year all the clubs from across the province come together to compete in the annual Hank Gibson Provincial Qualifier (http://www.ontariobass.com/who-is-hank-gibson.html, http://www.ontariobass.com/2017-hank-gibson-qualifer.html). The Hank Gibson Provincial Qualifier is an annual event that tests the skills of all the clubs members in Ontario against one another. The top 10 boaters and non-boaters make Team Ontario and proceed to compete against other clubs across the Northern B.A.S.S. Division in the United States and eventually the Bassmaster Classic (https://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/2017-geico-bassmaster-classic) which is the biggest fishing event in the world. The event has a maximum field of 100 boats with 200 competing anglers in total, these numbers do not include family members, executives and staff to help run the event or volunteers.
