Local Non-Profit Groups invited to apply to Event Hosting Program

North Bay, ON – Jan. 23, 2020 – Local organizations planning to host not-for-profit conferences, meetings, sports tournaments or other special events may be eligible for assistance under the City of North Bay’s Event Hosting Program.

The program, which supports community groups by providing funding to help offset event-hosting costs, is welcoming applications until March 30th.

A total of $50,000 is available this year to help support events that result in a significant community impact and present the opportunity to showcase and promote North Bay.

“This program is designed to give a helping hand to a wide variety of community events, whether its arts and culture or sports and entertainment," said Coun. Johanne Brousseau, Chair of Council’s Community Services Committee. “We want to encourage these kinds of events because they bring people together and help to highlight our City.”

Applications will be evaluated and scored by a Review Committee, consisting of representatives of North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce and the City’s Economic Development and Community Development and Growth departments. A scoring system will be used to determine the impact of the event on the community and help guide the Committee in determining the funding status of each application.

It is important to note that applications received after the March 30th deadline will only be considered if there are remaining program funds.

All interested groups are encouraged to apply.
