Water survival skills program offered
North Bay, ON – July 19, 2016 – On Sunday, July 24, 2016, the City of North Bay is offering a free Lifesaving Society program called Swim to Survive at Birchaven Cove from 1 to 5 p.m. for those 6 to 14 years of age.
Swim to Survive teaches children and teenagers the essentials needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water, including how to roll into the water, tread water for one minute, and swim 50 meters. Additional activities include lifejacket use and boat safety.
The sessions will run every 20 minutes starting at 1 p.m. Registration for this program is not required. Those interested are asked to present at the lifeguard stand on Birchaven Cove beach. There will be a maximum of 12 children per session.
Please note that Swim to Survive does not replace swim lessons.
