Licensing Clerk (Temporary)

The Corporation of the City of North Bay invites applications for a Licensing Clerk (Temporary) within our Customer Service Centre. Under the direction of the Customer Service Centre Supervisor, this position provides front line service for organizations conducting charitable gaming, businesses operating under the Business Licensing By-Law, landlords renting under the Residential Rental Housing By-Law, and owners/agents renting property under the Short-Term Rental By-Law.

Qualifications: 

  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in Legal Assistant Program, Law Clerk or Business (Accounting), or other related diploma, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. AMCT Designation will be considered an asset.
  • Three (3) years recent experience in a substantially similar work environment
  • Demonstrated decision making skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, be self-motivated and work effectively independently or on a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution skills and ability to deal tactfully with charitable organizations, business owners, landlords and the general public.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Thorough understanding including detailed functional knowledge of technology and programs such as: Microsoft Office, and relevant financial software.
  • Good working knowledge of office methods and procedures
  • Demonstrated exceptional planning, organizing and time management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to read and interpret legislative requirements as well as City By-Laws.  

Hours of Work:       Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute  unpaid meal period

Environment:          Unionized 

Hourly Rate:           $30.55 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
